I am a social anthropologist and a PhD student in Islamic Studies.
Over the years, I have conducted fieldwork on various topics, primarily related to the problem of identity formation in contemporary urban Muslim communities. Now my research explores the interconnections between religiosity and ethnic identity within Muslim contexts, with special attention on conversion as a process (not a moment) of self-transformation and a distinct social experience.
My current fieldwork is centered in the post-Soviet area.
Additionally, I have experience teaching courses on the Anthropology of Islam, Islamic Everyday Practices, and Qualitative Methodology.
