I am Professor in Building Technology at the Faculty of Engineering at Linnaeus University. My work includes research, supervision, teaching and course development. I am also a member of the University Board and sometimes perform various expert assignments. I did my dissertation in structural mechanics at Lund University in 2003 and I have a master degree in civil engineering.

My competence mainly includes numerical models and laboratory methods for wood mechanics and structural analysis, but I am also interested in building physics and acoustics.

Teaching

At the undergraduate level, I teach structural mechanics, acoustics and sometimes building physics, and at the advanced level I teach analysis of structures and beam theory. I also supervise students writing their master and bachelor thesis. I enjoy teaching, contact with students on all levels and development work in teaching.

Research

In research and supervision of doctoral students, I am interested in calculation models for wood mechanics and in prediction of mechanical properties like stiffness and strength of wood and engineered wood products such as glulam and cross-laminated timber. My research is also based on experimental work such as collection of data from optical scanning of wood surfaces, X-ray scanning and computer tomography and digital image correlation for calculation of strains of mechanically loaded specimens.

I conduct research in collaboration with research colleagues and doctoral students, at Linnaeus University and internationally. In many cases, we also cooperate with companies that are interested in new or improved production opportunities derived from research results.
