Wind-induced vibrations in tall and lightweight buildings

In the area of wind-induced vibrations in tall and lightweight buildings, modelling of components as well as complete buildings is important. The models have to be compex enough to represent the dynamics of the buildings. On the other hand, they have to be simplified to be useful in practice. In the article Reduced and test-data correlated FE-models of a large timber truss with dowel-type connections aimed for dynamic analyses at serviceability level by Pierre Landel and Andreas Linderholt, models, representing a stabilizing timber truss used in a building, of varying complexity are studied. Data stemming from the models are compared with data from vibrational tests. Below is a link to the article:

Articles about sound in timber buildings

Impact induced noise in timber buildings is one area that researchers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are involved in. Andreas Linderholt has published various articles in this subject, together with Jörgen Olsson who defended his PhD at Linnaeus University.
