Research

My research focuses on the sustainable transition and long-term competitiveness of the forest sector, with particular emphasis on biodiversity, climate, forest finance, and science–industry collaboration. It examines how innovation, policy development, skills provision, and collaboration among academia, industry, and public stakeholders can support sustainable and resilient bioeconomies. A particular focus is placed on the international implications of domestic forest policies, including harvest leakage, as well as trade-offs between climate mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and the sustainable supply of forest-based raw materials.

My working papers and preprints can be found here and recently published articles here. I have been a visiting scholar at the Center for Green Finance and Development at Tsinghua University, at the Center for Advanced Studies of Behavioral Sciences (CABS) at Stanford University, at INSEAD, and at the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin.
