My name is Bo Skøtt and I am employed as an associate professor / senior lecturer at the Department of Cultural Sciences, Linnäus University. I have my primary business experiences from my employment at the Department of Design and Communication, University of Southern Denmark and as a PhD student and associate professor at the Royal School of Library and Information science, respectively. From 2010 to 2014 I was employed as a cultural communicator at Norddjurs libraries and as a library consultant at Herning libraries, as well as in temporary positions as counseler at the Counseling and Support Center at Aarhus University and as teacher at Lemvig Business School.

Teaching

As a teacher, I am inspired by the problem-based and practice-oriented tradition, developed at Aalborg University in Denmark and by the 'humanities model' from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Southern Denmark. Therefore, my teaching takes place in a crossfield between lectures, teaching, student presentations and fieldwork - and always with practice in mind.

Research

My scientific interests include qualitative empirical studies of the social ans cultural practices of public libraries with at view to exploring formal and informal konwledge and socialising activities. This interest is tied to the interplay between general and interpersonal exchange of experience and how these processes may play together with and in cultural institutions, in particular the public libraries.
