I am a professor of Archaeology, researching and teaching Archaeology and Cultural Heritage at Linnaeus University, Sweden. My research is about archaeology and time travel, Experimental Heritage, the history of archaeology, the role of archaeology in society, archaeology/heritage and identity, archaeology/heritage and communication, heritage on display, Digital Heritage and Digital Archaeology. In an ongoing project collaboration that I conduct Experimental Heritage Swedish-Irish Explorations, I and a group of 18 Irish and Swedish archaeologists, artists and heritage workers explore the role and expressions of archaeology and heritage together with contemporary art. A recent publication presenting the project and some results is entitled Experimental Heritage as Practice: Approaching the Past through the Present at the Intersection of Art and Archaeology (Bodil Petersson & Danny Burke et al. in Internet Archaeology 2020). Since 2014 I am the program director of a bachelor's program at Linnaeus University: "Cultural heritage in the present and the future", an education that provides perspectives on uses of heritage in Sweden and the world today and in the future and also offers studies in university subjects of importance to the heritage sector.
