I am a university lecturer, director of studies for the preschool teacher education team at the Department of Swedish Language, and a doctoral student in Swedish Language Education.
Teaching
At present, I teach and coordinate courses on children's language, reading and writing development. For several years now, I have also conducted work placement visits for students attending the primary teacher training program.
Research
In my dissertation work, I investigate and develop early years teaching that promotes children's understanding of the relationship between language and power. Critical literacy practice involves engaging with texts in a way that goes beyond surface-level comprehension. It encourages questioning, analyzing power dynamics, and understanding how texts shape our perspectives.
The study is part of a collaborative project with a school where teachers took part in a professional development initiative to develop teaching that promotes critical literacy.
