30+ years of experience in building things, forming structures, leading people, negotiating cognitive schematas, materialising the not yet realised, leading open-ended processes, and managing vagueness as a productive resource.

Teaching

Most things related to entrepreneurship, innovation and management.

Research

Research focus on early stage venturing characterised by vague gestations, communicative entrepreneurship, competing logics, goal conflicts, stakeholder friction and resource constraints in contexts with distinct-to-high degree of ambiguity, uncertainty and risk (e.g., financial, political, relational, social, personal).

Theoretical focus on context, model building and conceptual history.

Empirical focus on emerging markets, family firms, Mexico, sports, hybrid contexts and not-for-profit organisations.

Innovation- and impact-wise, gestation activities in venture emergence can be process or outcome oriented. Both orientations are important. More process oriented before, more outcome orieted nowadays. Track record and relations/networks matters, the rest is rust and stardust.
