Heiko joined the LNU in February 2013. Previously he was Head of the Department of Economics at the German University in Cairo, Egypt (2009-2013); Associate Professor of Economics in the external program of the University of London in Almaty, Kazakhstan (2007-2009); Senior Lecturer of Political Economy of Europe with the University of Birmingham, UK (2003-2006); and Lecturer of Economic Policy with the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany (1997-2003). Heiko holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Trier, Germany, and a PhD in Economics from the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.
