Joacim Hansson is professor of Library and Information Science.


Joacim Hansson teaches at the bachelor programme in Library and Information Science and the Cultural Sciences master programme.

At present, he teaches

  • Library ethics
  • Information ethics
  • Theoretical traditions in cultural sciences
  • Theory and methodology in Library and Information Science


Main research interests are:

- Knowledge Organisation, primarily classification research.

- Document Studies, primarily on digital respresentation of cultural heritage documents and artefacts.

- Library Research, primarily on institutional identity of various types of libraries.

- History and philosophy of library and Information Science.


Joacim Hansson is member of the International Advisoy Boards of Scholarly journals Information and Learning Sciences, and Journal of Librarianship and Information Science.
