Teaching

Karthikeyan Baskaran is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine and Optometry, Linnaeus University, Kalmar, Sweden. He plays an active role in teaching and mentoring students across both undergraduate and master’s programs in optometry, fostering a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and clinical excellence.

Research

Karthikeyan Baskaran earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Linnaeus University, Kalmar, Sweden, in 2012, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Indiana University School of Optometry, USA. In 2016, he was honored with the prestigious Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) at their annual meeting in Anaheim, California.

 

His research interests center on children's refractive development, low vision rehabilitation, and retinal imaging, contributing valuable insights to these critical areas of vision science. Karthikeyan completed his Bachelor’s degree in Optometry from the Elite School of Optometry, Chennai, India, in 2004. He has been invited speaker in conferences and have authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
