Kostiantyn Kucher was born in Odessa, Ukraine. He received the Master's degree with honors in Computer Science from Odessa National Polytechnic University in 2012. During 2013–2018, Kostiantyn was a PhD student with a specialization in Information Visualization and Visual Analytics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Kerren with the ISOVIS group at the Department of Computer Science and Media Technology at Linnaeus University. Kostiantyn defended his PhD dissertation titled "Sentiment and Stance Visualization of Textual Data for Social Media" in April 2019. During December 2018–December 2019, he was a research assistant with the ISOVIS group.

Since January 2020, he is an associate senior lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Media Technology.

The main research interests and projects of Kostiantyn include the following:

  • text visualization and visual text analytics (see Text Visualization Browser at https://textvis.lnu.se);
  • sentiment and stance visualization of text data (see Sentiment Visualization Browser at https://sentimentvis.lnu.se and the website of the StaViCTA project at https://cs.lnu.se/stavicta);
  • temporal data visualization (especially for temporal text data);
  • further integration of visual analytics approaches with computational models (especially for natural language processing and text mining tasks) as well as explainable AI (see TrustMLVis Browser at https://trustmlvis.lnu.se); and
  • domain applications of information visualization and visual analytics (see BioVis Explorer at https://biovis.lnu.se, for instance).
