PhD in Psychology and Lecturer at Linnaeus University in Växjö. I previously worked clinically as a psychologist for 25 years, primarily in psychiatry and as a private practicing psychotherapist.
Teaching
I mainly teach at the Psychology Program, in subjects such as psychiatric conditions, psychodynamic theory and treatment, ethics, and various aspects related to LGBTQ+ individuals. I am also the course coordinator for the students’ clinical placement (VFU).
Research
I completed my doctorate in 2025 with the dissertation Living beyond gender norms: Children’s, adolescents’, and parents’ lived experiences in a cisnormative context in which I explored lived experiences of identifying as a gender other than the one legally assigned at birth. This was done partly through a systematic literature review of research published between 2000 and 2024, and partly through a study involving Swedish children and adolescents aged 4–16 and their parents. The research is qualitative and based on interviews focusing on participants’ lived everyday experiences, for example, how the gender identity process and others' responses have been experienced. The aim has been to increase knowledge about gender diversity and improve the treatment and support of young people with transgender and gender diverse identities and their parents.
