Lars Elleström is Professor of Comparative Literature, Linnaeus University, Sweden.

Elleström supervises doctoral candidates.

Research

Elleström has written and edited several books, including Divine Madness: On Interpreting Literature, Music, and the Visual Arts Ironically (Bucknell University Press, 2002), Media Borders, Multimodality and Intermediality (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and Media Transformation: The Transfer of Media Characteristics Among Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014).Recently, he has also published the books Transmedial Narration: Narratives and Stories in Different Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019) and Beyond Media Borders: Intermedial Relations among Multimodal Media, Volume 1 & 2 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). He has also published numerous articles on poetry, gender, irony, semiotics, and in particular intermediality. Parts of his work have been translated to numerous different languages.

Commissions

Elleström leads the Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS) and chairs the board of the International Society for Intermedial Studies (ISIS).
