I have in my research and teaching come to focus on learning conditions in the tension between system requirements and the human need for meaning-making. The fields in which I primarily have done research are the democratic and moral aspects of teaching in subject matter, the communicative conditions of leadership, the impact of policy documents on the development of different professions, and interprofessional learning in health and medical care. Currently I am part of a multidisciplinary research team working on a project that analyzes how different professions are affected by policy documents. Our work is based on the hypothesis that working processes of professionals are altered when made visible and standardized. Quality improvement has become a generic term for how members of staff in an organization collaborate with system-related conditions and each other in order to make the workflow more efficient in relation to previously set goals. Our research team analyzes learning in interprofessional teams in health and medical care. Since 2007 I have been Pro-rector, first at Växjö University and currently at Linnaeus University. I am also executive board member of The Kamprad Family Foundation for Entrepeneurship, Research & Charity. I am the Chairman of the Cooperative Council for The Bridge – a strategic collaboration between IKEA and Linnaeus University. A programme for entrepreneurship, innovation and production – for a better everyday life at home for the many people. A multi-disciplinary research and education cooperation on life at home and the conditions of production.
