Leonie Dapi Nzefa
Affiliated researcherI am Associate Professor in Health Sciences from Linnaeus university and I have a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology from Umeå University since 2010.
I have initiated, organized and supervised more than 80 students from Sweden, the Netherland, France and USA travelling to Cameroon for their Master thesis or internships.
I have also supervised several Masters’ thesis in Cameroon and Africa.
Teaching
I have been teaching many courses including but not limited to Nutrition and health, Healthy food, Public Health Nutrition, Global Health, Epidemiological and Nutritional Transition, Nutrition in low-income countries, International Social Work. I have experience teaching in English, Swedish and French languages in Cameroonian, Swedish and Netherland universities.
Research
I have published several articles in the field of Public Health such as nutritional status among adolescents, infant feeding, undernutrition, breastfeeding, albino challenges in Cameroon, polygyny among women, climate change impact on schoolchildren, postpartum depression and life experiences of mothers with an immigrant background living in the south of Sweden, Oral pathology and overweight among pupils in government primary schools in Cameroon, Poor Dietary Diversity as a Key Determinant of Household Food Insecurity in Buea Cameroon, Traditional and colonial governance practices and their impact on women’s identities and experiences in French Cameroon, Oral pathology and HIV.
Commissions
I am involved with the civil society (women associations, schools, Hermods, Folkuniversity, NGOs, libraries, media, municipalities, public/private offices, community) where I organize seminars, workshops, educational discussions with the public, workers, children, youths and women to disseminate my research findings or for the benefit of health promotion and disease prevention. I have covered topics such as, healthy nutrition, healthy eating habits, the importance of physical activity, antioxidants and free-radicals, nutrition for schoolchildren and pupils, nutrition for pregnant mothers, postpartum nutrition, food habits related non-communicable diseases amongst others.
I have published several books: Comment s´alimenter pour vivre longtemps et en bonne santé (2023), Et si elles se suffisaient à elles-mêmes (2021), Zeké a peur de traverser la route (2021), Ne pleure pas sinon Njoudjou va arriver (2022).
I am the president founder of The centre for youths in The Bandja village of Cameroon and the President founder of the Swedish Cameroon organisation located in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
