I am a postdoctoral researcher in marine ecology, focusing on bacteria and phytoplankton in the ocean - both in the Arctic Ocean and the Baltic Sea. My interests lie in understanding how marine microorganisms drive the biogeochemical cycles of mainly carbon and nitrogen. I also have a background in ecotoxicology and am interested in marine pollution issues.

Teaching

I supervise students in project courses and degree projects.

Research

I research biogeochemical cycles by studying the species composition, biogeographic distribution and activity of mainly small phytoplankton and nitrogen-fixing bacteria (primary production and nitrogen fixation). In my research I mainly use molecular methods (DNA and RNA), stable isotopes (to quantify biological processes), and flow cytometry to investigate how microorganisms are affected by different environmental conditions.

Commissions

Early career researcher in the marine working group of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). I am involved in the work with the International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV).
