Liviu Lutas is a professor in French literature. He teaches French literature and translation theory. Liviu Lutas is conducting his research in the fields of French literature from the Caribbean, literary theory, literary didactics, narratology and intermediality. He has been working with a project, financed by the Swedish National Bank, about the narrative metalepsis. Lutas is doing the main part of his research now in the framework of Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies, where he analyses literary narrative devices from a transmedial perspective.

I teach French literature at all levels, and translation within the framework of the translation programme.

My research is mainly contucted within the framework of Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies. I am involved in several projects in that group.

On the basis of narrative and intermedial theories, I examine, individually or together with my colleagues from the research centre, the transmedial potential of narration, ie how narration can appear in different media. Since I have my background in literarary studies, I examine most closely narrative devices as coined in literary theory and their possible appearance in other media.

In collaboration with Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, I examine new developments in Eastern European film, especially what has come to be called New Romanian Cinema. I apply our group's intermedial perspective on that film production together with other research perspectives.

Together with several researchers from our research centre I combine insights from intermedial research with climate research and ecocriticism, and examine the transformation of scientific material about what has been called the Anthropocene Period (the man influenced geological period) into aesthetic media.

I am the president of the research supervisors' committee (Handledarkollegiet)
