Students studying together

If you have feedback on your education

We’re committed to making sure you get a high-quality education and a positive student experience. That’s why your views matter. On this page, you will find information on what to do if you have feedback or concerns about your studies or how you are treated and want to share them with us.

How to proceed if you have feedback on your education

If you only want to give feedback on a course or programme without receiving a personal response, the course evaluation is the easiest option. If, on the other hand, you have feedback that can’t be addressed through course evaluations, this is how you should proceed:

  1. Start by finding out what applies in your situation

    - On the page Students rights and obligations as a student you will find links and information about the laws and regulations that apply to your studies, as well as  details about your responsibilities as a student and what you can expect from Linnaeus University.
    - You can find practical information about your course or programme on the learning platform Moodle.
    - You can find formal information about objectives, content, assessment and more in the relevant course or programme syllabus. Syllabuses are available here.

  2. Contact the person most directly responsible for the issue you want to raise. This could be your teacher or supervisor, or an administrator, depending on the nature of the issue.

  3. If you feel that the problem persists, you can contact the person with overall responsibility. This could be the course or programme coordinator, the head of department, or the faculty administrative director.

  4. If you still feel that the issue hasn’t been resolved, you can contact the dean or the relevant office manager.

  5. If steps 2–4 don’t solve the issue, you can email the Office of Student Affairs administrator responsible for student feedback. Your email should include:

    - a brief description of the issue, what you believe has gone wrong, and why
    - how you’ve tried to solve the issue with the department/faculty
    - which members of staff you’ve been in contact with.

Once the administrator at the Office of Student Affairs has received your email, they will contact you. If they decide that your case needs to be looked into further, they will start an investigation together with you and the staff involved, to try to find a solution. Your case will then be formally recorded by Linnaeus University.

Appealing a decision

If you’re dissatisfied with a decision that affects you as a student, you may be able to appeal against it, depending on the type of decision. On this page, you’ll find more information about which decisions can be appealed and how to appeal.

Can I remain anonymous when giving feedback or making a complaint?

You can remain anonymous, but if you want help resolving your issue, we need to know who you are so we can ask follow-up questions and keep you informed.

Can I contact the vice-chancellor?

You can contact the vice-chancellor, but as they are the head of a public authority, your enquiry will be handled by an administrator in the Office of Student Affairs on their behalf.

Get help from the Linnaeus Union

As a student, you can get advice and support from the Linnaeus Union, the student union at Linnaeus University. You don’t need to be a member to receive support. You can find more information about the Linnaeus Union and contact details for their student ombudsmen on the Linnaeus Union website.
