Ageing and sustainable health

Older age is associated with the emergence of complex health states, which may be the consequences of underlying factors such as physical and social environments, as well as personal characteristics. To prevent or reduce the risk of developing non-communicable diseases, maintaining healthy behaviors throughout life is crucial. In this course you will be given a brief introduction to different theoretical perspectives on health and ageing, stemming from different sciences and professional groups. We will also introduce some of the diseases that commonly occur, as well as social, environmental and cultural challenges for older people. Finally, we will connect these cultural, social, psychological and biological perspectives to sustainable health.
