A study of a stochastic epidemic model
Sammanfattning/Abstract
A one-dimensional epidemic model describing the fraction of infected individuals for a semilarge population is considered. In the model the population size is fixed. Infection from outside the population and recovery is allowed. The model was suggested by Iacus (2008). Here existence, uniqueness and qualitative behavior of a solution is presented. The model is compared with a diffusion approximation of a birth-death type epidemic model as in Kurtz (1978).
