The EMBLA research group and the knowledge platform Entrepreneurship and social change invite you to an exciting symposium and workshop on gender, entrepreneurship and postfeminism and we look forward to receiving your abstracts.
The symposium focuses on cutting edge research in the gender and entrepreneurship field, with a particular interest in the ambiguous effects produced through entrepreneurial discourses. On one hand we see new feminist movements such as MeeToo, body image activism, and feminist trying out their ideas on the market (FemInc.ism). On the other hand, entrepreneurial discourses, pervaded by neoliberal rationalities, also seem to co-opt feminist collective aspirations. The goal of the symposium it to investigate whether the concept of postfeminism can further these discussions and contribute to theories on gender and entrepreneurship.
Keynote speaker is Dr. Patricia Lewis, Reader in Management at Kent Business School, University of Kent, whose research is located in the area of gender and organisation studies. Dr. Lewis’ presentation is entitled: What
makes a concept analytically useful? An Exploration of Postfeminism and Neoliberalism in Relation to Women´s Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Viktorija Kalonaityte from Linnaeus University will present her study: Gendering climate activism: sustainable influencers, anti-consumerism and digital entrepreneurship.
Professor Helene Ahl, Jönköping University will give an overview of past and present research from the Embla group.
In between these presentations there will be workshops and interactions based on abstracts and themes presented in the speeches. The symposium will be rounded off with a panel debating ‘hot’ research questions and exploring new paths for future research in gender and entrepreneurship.
