Towards understanding amyloid formation in Lewy body disease – importance for therapeutic intervention

As of today, the pathological mechanisms behind Parkinson’s disease and Dementia with Lewy bodies remains unknown. In our work we aim to characterize central amino acid segments in amyloid forming proteins, for their propensity to initiate neurodegenerative disease. Listen to Thomas Näsström, Assistant professor at Linnaeus University, current research at the Neurodegenerative Disorders unit at the Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences.
