Actin oxidation alters actin structure and actin-myosin interaction
Datum och tid/Time and date
12 mars 2021 kl. 14.30-15.30
Actin oxidation is a highly relevant modification in normal muscle function and disease, yet has received little attention when compared to its motor protein binding partner, myosin. Given the actin protein abundance in the body, the prevalence of oxidation, and indications that oxidation is sufficient to result in force loss, in disease, examining the effect of actin oxidation on the actin-myosin interaction is a valuable endeavour. Understanding the link between oxidized actin alteration and force loss may yield therapeutic targets for disease in the future.
