Forest 4.0 Conference

The sharing of open forest data is essential for tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and forest degradation. While data from government satellites and remote sensing are becoming more accessible, the sharing of data collected directly in forests remains limited. Digital technologies like AI and IoT have the potential to transform forestry businesses. This conference will highlight interdisciplinary research in forestry, computer and information sciences, and building engineering.

Additionally, an esteemed panel featuring industry representatives from Lithuania and Sweden will discuss the importance of research and innovation for business competitiveness in the forestry sector. Through a cross-sectoral perspective, we will emphasize how forestry data can generate new insights, create value propositions for customers, and foster new business models within a circular economy.

This conference is organized as a part of the EU Horizon Project: Forest 4.0 | lnu.se. Our goal is to establish a Centre of Excellence to transform the forest environment monitoring, data acquisition, and analysis, and capture value from the collected data.
