This week Felicia Stenberg will have her midway seminar for her PhD project: "Technology, Ecology, Capitalism: Science Fiction and the Digital Frontier." 

About the seminar:

This week IMS and MIDWorld PhD student Felicia Stenberg, PhD student in English literature, has her midway seminar. She will present and discuss parts of her ongoing PhD project: "Technology, Ecology, Capitalism: Science Fiction and the Digital Frontier." The discussant will be Dennis Nguyen, Assistant Professor for Digital Literacy and Digital Methods at Utrecht University. 

Short bios:

Felicia Stenberg is a PhD student in English Literature at Linnæus University in Växjö, Sweden, where she is a member of the intermedial Linnaeus University Centre research cluster IMS Green. Her PhD project is part of the interdisciplinary graduate school (MIDWorld). She is also a member of the research cluster for Ecology, Culture and Coloniality (ECCo). Her doctoral project, tentatively titled Technology, Ecology, Capitalism: Science Fiction and the Digital Frontier investigates how the conjuncture of digitalization and ecological crises caused by capitalist extraction is mediated in and through contemporary science fiction.

Dennis Nguyen is Assistant Professor for Digital Literacy and Digital Methods at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He holds a PhD in Media, Culture & Society from the University of Hull (UK). His main research interests are critical data studies, public discourses on datafication, digital culture, and empirical methods for media research.
