Jag bedriver forskning kring marina bakteriers ekologi, fysiologi, genomik och diversitet. Min forskning omfattar studier av bakteriesamhällets artsammansättning och vilken funktion olika bakterier spelar i marina pelagiska ekosystem. Detta inkluderar studier av biodiversiteten av marina bakterier och hur olika bakterier deltar i kolets och näringsämnenas kretslopp och energiflöden i havet.
Jag invaldes i Kungliga vetenskapsakademien, Klassen för Biologiska vetenskaper, år 2017.
