My academic interests are in the intersection between systems design, participatory design, and feminist science and technology studies. This combination makes it possible to examine design and design processes as knowledge process in which the production of knowledge is partial, locally, historically and culturally dependent. Further, design processes and interactions or intra-action between people and information technology can be understood as material-discursive practices. The frame of reference gives also room to examine multiple voices - a divergent approach, or to create rich pictures of a practice by valuing diversity at the expenses of uniformity or homogeneity. Questions addressed in my research are: Whose knowledges dominate in the design process? Do some methodologies and methods support divergent approaches better than others? How do asymmetrical power relations intersect in design processes?
