From January 2020 to December 2021, I will be a VINNOVA-postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Cultural Sciences, Linnaeus University. Here I will continue to develop a theoretical and methodological framework that combines actualistic research in forensic taphonomy with an archaeothanatological approach.
Previously I developed and undertook an innovative pilot study on human decomposition at the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State University (FACTS). This study explored the feasibility of actualistic taphonomic research, which has been called for in the field of archaeothanatology in the past three decades. My research interests and expertise cover forensic archaeology, forensic taphonomy, archaeology of death and burial, forensic facial reconstruction, Caribbean archaeology, and 3D modelling and motion graphics animation as a research and education tool.
