Forskning
My work draws from the fields of political science, sociology, psychology, and political ecology to shed light on the socio-cultural aspects of the relationships between communities of place and local 'natures', and how tourism allows to re-negotiate these relationships.
I have worked with concepts of social-political justice, empowerment, and just destination governance.
I am an affiliated researcher working with the Environmental Social Science Research Team at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, where I am looking into the role of tourism & outdoors recreation in shaping human-nature relationships.
Projects:
- 2020-2023 (Principal Investigator): Can outdoor leisure make us all better stewards of nature?- a study of how emotions and values foster river stewardship in rural areas (Project is financed through National Science Center, Poland under agreement no UMO-2019/35/B/HS6/01986)
- 2021-2022 (Researcher): Reconstruction or crises? Transformation of social-ecological heritage of rivers Sztoła, Baba and Biała in the face of a rapid environmental change.
- 2018-2019 (Principal Investigator): Does ecotourism have the ability to empower residents to overcome environmental discrimination due to Natura 2000 in Poland? (project financed through National Science Center, Poland under POLONEZ no. 2016/23/P/HS6/04017)
