Shamim works on the Human Brain Project (HBP). She is Coordinator for the Ethics Advisory Board and provides support to other Governance and RRI & ethics related activities. HBP is one of the three EC’s FET flagship research projects. It commenced in October 2013, runs for 10 years and has a total budget of 1 billion EUR.
Shamim has a background in chartered accountancy. She has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales since 1993, and qualified with Deloitte in Leeds, UK.
Shamim started working at Linnaeus University in 2003 as Project Manager for the FP6 flagship project CHRISGAS. The project ran for 5½ years, had a budget of approx 17 million EUR and a consortium of 20 partners. She was also Project Manager of the BISYPLAN project, financed by the EU’s Regional Development Fund (INTERREG IVC Cooperation Programme).
Shamim has previously been the Financial Signatory (FSIGN) for Linnaeus University’s FP7 projects, and also the Research Financial Advisor within the Grants and Innovation Office where she provided advice and support to researchers related to budgeting, financial reporting and audits for the EC's Framework Programmes.
