Shamim has a background in project management and chartered accountancy. She qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales in 1993 with Coopers & Lybrand, Deloitte in Leeds, UK. She has been with Linnaeus University since 2003 and has extensive EU-project management experience dating from the 6th Research Framework Programme.
Since September 2022 Shamim has been Project Manager of the EU’s Horizon Europe funded Exten.(D.T.)2 project. Prior to this she worked 10 years on the EU’s Future and Emerging Technologies, FP7/Horizon 2020 Human Brain Project as Coordinator of the Ethics Advisory Board and supported various governance, ethics and responsible research and innovation related activities. She was also the Project Manager of the FP6 flagship CHRISGAS project and the EU’s INTERREG regional development funded BISYPLAN project.
Shamim has also been a Research Financial Advisor with the Grants and Innovation Office. Her expertise in this role includes budgeting, financial reporting and internal auditing of EU funded projects. She was the Financial Signatory for Linnaeus University’s FP7 projects.
