Project by design students

An Exhibition Aiming to Challenge Our Thoughts on Climate Change and Environmental Issues.

Second-year students from Linnaeus University’s Design + Change program will
participate with a booth at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair in February. Before that,
the exhibition will be shown exclusively for one occasion at Linnaeus University in Växjö.

The design students have spent the past month working on their collective exhibition project titled “Facing Nature’s Force.”

With this exhibition, the students aim to provoke thoughts about why humans tend to rely on innovation and new technologies to save us. Why are we more inclined to treat symptoms rather than addressing the root causes of the fires, floods, and storms that increasingly affect us?

“The goal is to challenge conventional thinking, highlighting the irony that technology, which has significantly contributed to environmental problems, isn’t always capable of solving them. We hope to of er new perspectives on why we seem more willing to focus on symptoms rather than act on the causes of climate change,” says Julian Vidar Jonsson.

The international students have together planned and visualised the concept for the exhibition as part of their three year Design +Change program, and are currently in the final stages of designing and building the exhibition.

The Stockholm Furniture Fair is Scandinavia’s leading platform for furniture and lighting design, held February 4-8 at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö.
