Mikael Wiberg: Design Informatics

Welcome to a research seminar in informatics.

Lecturer: Mikael Wiberg, professor i informatik, Umeå universitet

Title:
Design Informatics - A research initiative, and a point of reference for our educations

Abstract:
In this seminar prof. Wiberg will present an initiative called ’Design Informatics’. He will describe how we have initiated this as a research environment at the department of informatics at Umeå university, and I will present how it is related to design-oriented studies in informatics (including e.g. participatory design, design research, action design research, interaction design research, design science, etc). For sure, design is part of the history of informatics, and it is a central dimension in several of our educational programs, not only in Umeå but in most informatics departments - on a national and international level. I will discuss ways of moving from an initiative towards a research program on design informatics, and I will open up for a discussion on possible ways forward in terms of research efforts and opportunities for long-term collaborations. Welcome!
