The presentation is an introduction to Aleksi Huhta’s Academy of Finland-funded project “Finnish-American Radicalism in a World of Empires” (2019-2022)
The project examines the interrelationship between imperial power and human mobility by focusing on Finnish labor radicals who migrated between the Russian and American imperial spheres in the early twentieth century. Many of these political exiles established themselves as leaders in the Finnish-American labor movement and organizations of the U.S. Left
