Abstract
Emerging research and development within the fields of Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) are revolutionizing the ways we deal with large data sets both in industry and academia. Working with Big Data originated from sources like call logs, mobile-banking transactions, online user-generated content including blog posts and Tweets, online searches, satellite images, serve as the basis to provide rich and meaningful information. Specific knowledge on computational and mining techniques is required to unveil trends and patterns within and between these large socioeconomic data-sets. In parallel, with the rapid evolution of Internet of Things (IoT), smart things and objects are active participants in business, information and social processes where they are enabled to interact and communicate among them-selves and with the environment by exchanging data and information sensed about the environment while triggering generation of Big data. In this seminar, various aspects related to relevant problems within Big data and IoT will be discussed together with their associated research challenges.
